New York Yankee's Ray Negron's Fight for Child
Literacy
Ray Negron, the celebrated author of the best selling
book, The Greatest Story Never Told: The Babe and Jackie ,
recently held a book signing to raise money for 'Literacy
for Children' at Paces Steakhouse in Hauppauge New York.
New Media Marketing & Communications was proud to have
assisted with photographing the event and supporting Ray
Negron's mission to improve children's literacy.
Also on hand was famed New York sport star Darryl Strawberry
who was one of the most feared sluggers in baseball from
the 1980s to the early 1990s leading both the Mets and
Yankees to World Series Championships.
About 100 people attended the $1,000.00 per person event
that was held at Pace's Steakhouse in Hauppauge New York
and was sponsored by Long Island Rubbish Removal Eastern
and Habberstad BMW.
When Negron was a teenager in the 1970s, he was caught spraying
graffiti on the side of Yankee Stadium, and put to work by
George Steinbrenner. Negron became the Yankees' batboy, played
minor league ball, and then went to work for the Yankees
and the Cleveland Indians. Ray currently works with the New
York Yankees as a personal consultant to George Steinbrenner.
In addition, he is also Director of Community Relations for
Spalding, America's oldest baseball company, where he has
been instrumental in supporting baseball in underprivileged
areas.
